Background
TNF-α (Tumor Necrosis Factor alpha) is a cytokine involved in systemic inflammation and is one of the cytokines that make up the acute phase reaction. TNF-α induces a model of preeclampsia in pregnant baboons (Papio hamadryas)[1]. TNF-α suppreses GnRH pulse generator activity at least partially through PG, but not CRH, dependent mechanisms[2].
